Katherine Johnson, an American Mathematician, was born on August 26th 1918. She died on February 24, 2020, and lived to be 101 years old. Johnson obtained a job at NACA (which would later be called NASA) when she was 24. She didn't initially get to be a computer, but after a year of working, she re-applied for the job and got it. After the U.S. decided to send people to the moon, Johnson studied using geometry for space travel, and found the paths that the spaceship would use to land on the moon. NASA eventually used Johnson's path math to guide the Freedom 7 spacecraft to the moon. Katherine Johnson has an entire movie dedicated to her accomplishments named "Hidden Figures."
